Download This File which is an executable slideshow regarding our new bundle. Its almost 16MB so give it some time depending on your internet connection speed. After downloading, just run the file and it'll let you play the slideshow. Don't worry, its not a virus or spam or anything just a slideshow I created (had I made it a regular video file, it would be much much larger in size and take along time to download- this executable compresses everything to make it smaller yet with the same quality).

Lucas Mark Allard April 2, 2007 in the year of our Lord :)

Well, being 2.5 weeks early didn't stop our little 7.5lb 20.5 inches long guy from showing up. We made it to the hospital very casually at around 5:45am Monday morning and by 8:36pm Lucas had arrived. His arrival was noted and celebrated by many immediate family that had waited, rather impatiently, as we made it through the delivery process. There were no major complications though the epidural had slowed down contractions and the dreaded "baby vacuum" was threatened but never had to be used. Blessings were plentiful throughout Monica's pregnancy and they continued through the labor. We keep running into those little "God sightings" everywhere whether looking for them or not; we keep saying "well that worked out nicely, almost too nicely" or "wow, that's a weird coincidence" which generally means and should be deciphered as "wow, there's God pulling His stunts again."

About the only complications we've had at all is getting him to nurse right and having some jaundice. But we're supplementing with formula and have him in a bili blanket to fight off the jaundice, it looks like something right outta Star Trek- click here to learn more about jaundice. Here's a picture of him in the bili blanket.

Some of our visitors mention some similarities between father and son, but I don't see them.

Birth Certificate issued, he's finally legit.
Ok this picture may take you by surprise, but for fun time I often play video games with some friends so this picture I photoshopped for their benefit. You might just want to quickly scroll to the next one :D

I'm not sure what else to say other than thanks for all the prayers we've received. As was mentioned we've been counting so many blessings that we're losing track (need to get em' written down)! Our nurses at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar MO were great, and having the whole process done in one room was great (no room transfers and the baby can stay in the room as much as you want). We'd love you all to meet out strawberry-blonde boy. No, we're not sure where the strawberry blondeness comes from, maybe too many strawberry limeades from Sonic?
His name is derived from Luke (as in the Gospel author) who was a physician who described our Lord as the Great Physician (quite well observed during this whole pregnancy labor process). Mark is for Monica's father who has been observed as being a "pretty good guy" to underscore his countenance and demand for goodness and honorable approach. Yea, hearing the boy's name pronounced did hit Monica's dad right in the soft spot. :D Also, you'll notice that our son's initials are LMA, which is likened to the initials for "Les & Monica Allard" just to throw in another little detail into how his name was envisioned. A visitor noted that, "you guys put way too much thought into stuff" which is pretty accurate. And no, if we have another son someday, his name will not be "Matthew John" just to make sure we cover all four Gospels! (though that is a cool idea, maybe i'll regress on that statement)
I'll leave you with one last picture to show him off, as i'm hitting writers block and missing my boy, maybe i'll write more in later.

for my Aunt Ginger

Well we're about 4 weeks from term now and Monica is in more discomfort that she has been with the increasing size of the boy hanging out amidst her internal organs. He enjoys the stomach deformation game, in which he shifts his whole body on 1/2 half of her stomach to make just that section stick out like a melon. We also think he is ticklish which Monica claims to somehow "feel" when I try and tickle what I think are his feet.
Other than a harder time sleeping, and the wear of lugging him around she is doing well, still working and all that. We hope the labor/delivery time is as kind as the pregnancy has been! He is riding very low on her, at times she thinks he's "knocking at the door" about ready to come out! But no there've been no contractions that she knows of. She's having 1/week appointments with the doctor who will start checking for dilation.
We have most of what we think we need for his arrival. We have a crib/mattress/sheets/packNplay/swing/boppy/diapers/clothing/toys/twilightturtle/bottles/bottlewarmer/carseatstrollerset/carseatbase
and other items.
we have still yet to get a "snugli" ... basically amounts to a backpack looking thing that you can strap the kid to your front or back. Not really an essential, but might be good for long expeditions if we arent wanting to lug the stroller around. As far as things we're still wanting/needing Monica has the list, maybe i'll post it for your perusal although calling about it first is best in case we've already got it.
We muralized the baby room.

4 week countdown! we appreciate your prayers, especially for lots of energy and endurance so we can keep making progress getting everything in order.
What's his name you ask? sorry, we aren't sharing that information until his birth. You never know, we might want to change it to something like Boaz before all is said and done. Any attempts to trick us into slipping the name, will cost you no less than 3 baby-holdings + 3 diaper changings.

Ultrasound Pics of the Little Guy

That's right, its a boy!!! In this ultrasound pic the head is on the right, kinda looks like skull mountain, and his chest/tummy is situated leftward like he was lying on his left side lookin at ya. All toes/fingers are acounted for and he appears healthy and spry. First thing we saw when the technician placed the ultrasound to the belly was him rearing back and delivering a left hook- apparently we woke him up from his nap. Thanks for your ongoing prayers as this is our first.

I think he takes after his Daddy by the looks of his chest, dont you think?
